Fall 2018 Bulletin  by Eileen Brown78B

At the Annual General Meeting in June 2018, the nominating committee were unable to find anyone willing to serve on the executive. After some anxious moments, not wanting the RCH School of Nursing Alumnae to end this way, several people stepped forward:

The new executive has discussed how near we came to dissolution at our June meeting. We must look at this becoming a possibility when this executive’s term is finished in 2 years. With that in mind we would like to get feedback from members on what you think we should do moving forward. We would like members to give us feedback and come to the October meeting to discuss our future. We would love to see more of our alumnae come out!

We have been looking to other nursing school alumnae for input on planning our future. Royal Inland closed in 1974 and VGH closed in 1992, both continue to have an active alumnae association. More information at a later date.

Update from June meeting:

At the June meeting, members voted to give an endowment to Douglas College Foundation for an annual nursing student scholarship, and an endowment to the RCH Foundation to take over the Gussie McPhail bursary.
